The Alexander Technique is a method for examining anything you do by habit, from acting, to sitting at the computer, to dealing with stress. Using the technique helps you become aware of these habits, stop harmful habits before they kick in, and learn to do any activity in an easier and more coordinated way. Essentially, it puts you back in charge of how you do anything! In personal Alexander Technique lessons, the teacher will guide you through simple movements, such as standing up from a chair. You'll also learn to release habitual tension by working lying on a table with hands-on guidance. Finally, you'll apply the Technique to whatever activities particularly interest you. Alexander Technique lessons are often very relaxing, but they are not passive. The student is an active participant, learning to use the Technique for themselves! I offer lessons over zoom, and I am now offering in person lessons as well to folks who are vaccinated! In person lessons can also take place outside and/or wearing masks.
