Melissa Freilich is a director, fight choreographer and teacher located in Richmond VA. She is currently pursuing her MFA in Performance Pedagogy at Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a certified Alexander Technique teacher and recognized member of the American Society for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT). She trained under Jane Heirich in Ann Arbor MI. Her BA is in Theatre and Classics from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. She is an Instructor for Dueling Arts International, an advanced actor combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors, and an associate member of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society. Directing credits include Arcadia, A Year without a Panto Claus, In the Next Room, Summer Cannibals, Eurydice, Yentl (asst.), and Clybourne Park (asst.). Fight choreography includes Romeo and Juliet, Cabaret, True West, Othello, Treasure Island, The Three Musketeers, An Almost British Christmas, Cut It Out, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, The Pillowman, and Fool for Love.
